IG Group experiences issues with MT4 platform

The brokerage first confirmed that some of its clients were reporting issues with its MetaTrader 4 platform around 23.19 UTC. IG said it was investigating the issues at the highest priority. It took the company 30 minutes to resolve the issue and clients were able to log in and access the platform. At the time of writing, all their trading platforms are fully operational.

Also, in early June IG reported two incidents. One happened with its ProRealTime charting-based trading platform and clients were unable to view or open trades via ProRealTime for about an hour. The other was that some general trading platform functions were not working properly.

At the time of writing this article, however, IG Group has not provided any details about the issues root cause.

Trading systems under pressure

IG Group is not the only trading provider to have reported system outages for its trading platform. Back in March, AtoZ Markets reported that the Robinhood trading app suffered a system-wide outage, which left many users unable to access their accounts.

The outage made many of Robinhood app users furious, with a group of traders allegedly gathering signatures to sue the stock-buying app. What caused the crash? A Leap Day bug, high trading volumes, and others were all pointed to as the reasons.

However, an official statement from the stock trading app said that the cause of the outage was stress on its infrastructure which struggled with an unprecedented load.
