Largest US Cinema Chain Plans to Accept Shiba Inu Token

America's largest cinema chain AMC is considering accepting the Shiba Inu (SHIB) token alongside other cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin and Dogecoin. This was announced by AMC CEO Adam Aron at an investor conference on Monday.

We are now trying to figure out how to accept Shiba Inu as a currency. This is the next token in our cryptocurrency hit parade,” he said.

AMC made a bet on cryptocurrencies after buyers of meme shares from Reddit helped it recover from the pandemic crisis, triggering a 2,000% rally in the company's stock. Last month, Aaron hosted a Twitter poll about whether AMC should expand its list of supported cryptocurrencies. By the end of the year, the company intends to start accepting Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash, and may add Dogecoin in the first quarter of next year. More than 80% of survey participants supported the idea of including Shiba Inu on this list.

Today I am ready to confirm that we have been studying with third parties over the past months how to accept cryptocurrencies and whether it makes sense for AMC to issue its own cryptocurrency. I am also ready to confirm that we are in talks with several Hollywood studios regarding the idea of joint release of commemorative NFTs tied to major films that are shown in our cinemas,” added Aaron.

The Shiba Inu token peaked on October 28 but has since lost about a third of its value.
