The Coppock MetaTrader indicator is a variation of the famous Coppock curve indicator, which was created by Edward Coppock in 1962.
This indicator gives long-term buy or sell signals by measuring a weighted moving average (10 period) with two change levels. This is the classic version. This version allows you to change the parameters of the basic indicators. You can use this Coppock indicator in MT4 and MT5.
Input parameters:
ROC1Period (default = 14) - period of the first change level.
ROC2Period (default = 11) - period of the second change level.
MAPeriod (default = 10) - period of the weighted moving average.
MAType (MT4 only) (default = 3 (WMA)) - Moving average sum method. It is not recommended to change.
How to trade with Coppock Indicator
The basic strategy for trading with the Coppock indicator is to buy when the curve starts to rise from a bottom below zero and sell when the curve starts to fall from a top above zero. Small tops and drawdowns should be ignored. The indicator helps to enter the trend at an early stage.

How to download and install an indicator
In order to install the indicator on your MT4 platform, you need to follow these steps:
- Click on the “Download Indicator” button located at the bottom of the screen.
- Save the file to your computer.
- Extract and move the files into the MT5>Indicator folder of the MetaTrader4 software file directory.
- Restart your Metatrader platform.
- Navigate to “Indicators.”
- And select the “Coppock” template to apply it on the chart.
