Ethereum 2.0 Testnet Launch Set on August 4
Ethereum (ETH) 2.0 has been successfully running on multiple testnet since April. The final testnet will be available on 4 August. Danny Ryan, the developer of Ethereum Core, posted this news on the Testnet Discord site. He said:
“After discussions with client teams, the next multi-client testnet (mainnet config including min validator numbers) will have a min genesis time of 4 August (likely 1 or 2 pm UTC). We shall also be showcasing “Launchpad” on this net, the educational deposit interface aimed at hobbyists. I expect the deposit contract and config to make public in the next couple of days.”
The final testnet will allow Ethereum to grow and support decentralized finance (DeFi) and countless other use cases. Testnet supports multiple clients of Ethereum, different ways to run the blockchain.
Ethereum 2.0 seems to be on track for launch. Investors and the community feel the upgrade is taking a long time, but Testnet should be up and running for at least three months. In short, Ethereum 2.0. Mainnet may launch as early as 4 November 2020.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin shared his thoughts on the development of Ethereum 2.0. Buterin also sees new scaling solutions like rollups which could provide extra space for Ethereum to keep growing.
