Impressive results for the American economy as the US Jobless Claims dropped the most in almost 15 years.
Released at 265k, a better result than economists estimated at 300k, also beats the previous figure of 308k, although it is worthy of note that it was a holiday shortened week and therefore subjects future change in the results to volatility. In summary:
- Actual US initial unemployment claims 265k vs previous 308k
- Better than forecast (265k) as less individuals submitted applications for unemployment benefits beating forecast of 300k
- Previous release was revised to 308k from 307k
USD strengthened across board against most pairs after the release however the greenback quickly lost momentum.
