Peter Brady: New BCSC Executive Director


The British Columbia Securities Commission CEO and Chair, Brenda M. Leong had just announced the appointment of New BCSC Executive Director. Peter Brady, Commission’s Director of Corporate Finance, is about to formally get the role starting from the 7th of September. What changes it's going to bring to the BSCS?

August 24, AtoZForex – The British Columbia Securities Commission (BSCS) has been very actively lately, as it has issued an order yesterday against Thomas Arthur Williams and the Global Group of Companies for committing the fraudulent scheme. Other news also came yesterday, as BSCS’s Chair and CEO, Brenda M. Leong has announced the appointment of New BCSC Executive Director.

Mr. Brady has served as the Commission’s Director of Corporate Finance since 2012, as he was working with the number of initiatives related to venture capital market health and the rise of the capital. Additionally, since February 2016, Mr. Brady has been serving as a Director of Enforcement. Moreover, he has previously worked at the BSCS with its exemptions, litigation, and M&A projects.

Ms. Leong has commented on the appointment:

He will provide continued strong leadership to the Commission and I look forward to working in partnership with him, building on our cohesive approach to protecting investors - through robust compliance programs, innovative investor education, strong enforcement, and cost-effective regulation."

Peter Brady’s background

Before re-joining the BSCS in 2012, Peter Brady has served as General Counsel of Qtrade Financial Group, which is a national wealth management company, providing solutions to financial institutions as well as direct to individual investors.

Mr. Brady also has practices with securities and corporate law both privately and publicly. He holds a B.A. (Honours) from Queens University and has a law degree from the University of Victoria. Moreover, Mr. Brady is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia.

As the Executive Director of the British Columbia Securities Commission, Peter Brady will be the chief administrative officer of the Commission, managing the financial and administrative affairs of the Commission and maintaining the activities of the staff to successfully impose the Securities Act.
