“Even I myself have put a little bit of money into crypto,” the billionaire Interactive Brokers founder and chairman told CNBC in an interview.
July 23, 2021, | AtoZ Markets – Thomas Peterffy, founder and chairman of the largest foreign exchange broker Interactive Brokers, told CNBC that he remains skeptical about the long-term prospects of cryptocurrencies, but this does not prevent him from investing in them.
Earlier it became known that Interactive Brokers intends to provide clients with access to digital assets by the end of the summer. Peterffy has spoken of Bitcoin without much enthusiasm in the past.
During the preparation of futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) in 2017, he said that he does not object to trading, but does not support “linking cryptocurrencies to the real economy through federal regulation.”
Commenting on the upcoming launch of cryptocurrency trading on the platform, Peterffy stated:
“Several clients showed interest and I understand them perfectly.”
As of the first quarter of 2021, Interactive Brokers had 1.33 million customer accounts with total assets of more than $330 billion. According to Forbes, Peterffy’s net worth is over $21 billion.
