29 February, AtoZForex.com, Lagos – Joseph Botkier, the chief operating officer of retail broker FX dealer direct, FXDD CEO is charged with assault. He was arrested by the police and subsequently charged with assault and possession of a gun after the incident. FXDD is Headquartered in Malta, offer trading solutions to individual and institutional traders, hedge funds, money managers, white labels, and introducing brokers.
Gun possession by the former bank trader
How did Joseph Botkier end up in this position, and why is the FXDD CEO is charged with assault? Mr. Botkier used to be a bank trader, also the former chief operating officer (COO) of his daughter’s trendy Botkier handbag collection. The 69 year old was caught in an alteration with his wife in the lobby of their home, an exquisite Tribeca building early Sunday, during which he picked up a Prada purse and stroked his wife in the face, according to sources.
According to the report from the New York post, the purse was metal-clasped, causing a cut on Mrs Botkier’s face, earning her three stiches. After the incident, the police conducted a search of his apartment, and found a loaded .32-caliber semiautomatic handgun. Botkier was charged with assault, alongside criminal possession of a weapon.

$8,550 cash bail, no charges pressed
According to the report, the incident began over a “struggle over a purse.” However, Maria Botkier tried to down play her husband’s reaction by telling the police that she was the aggressor in the alteration, forcing her husband’s violent reaction. She recounted to the police:
“I was attacking him and everything, beating him up, kicking him, ripping his pants apart and he just didn’t know what to do. He just grabbed this was on the seat and just, like, wanted me to stop. And unfortunately, he hit me over the forehead, like heavy piece of metal.”
This did not stop a restraining order against his wife, even after Maria Botkier further stated that she hopes that case will go away as she does not want to press charges: “In jeopardy is his job, his future . . . I do not want to press charges,’’
Mr. Botkier has now been released after a $8,550 cash bail. His lawyer, Alex Spiro, said, “My client denies the charges, and we will fight them in court.”
