The Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF), the financial markets authority in France is an independent public body responsible for safeguarding investments in financial instruments and in all other savings and investment, and also maintaining orderly financial markets.
As Europe happens to be one of the biggest financial market players with France as a major contributor to this statistics, Binary options dealers have been flocking into the French region in a bid to attract French citizens as potential clients. This has prompted keen scrutiny from the AMF officials into activities of these firms which led to the discovery and publishing of a list of some 155 unregulated brands which are making unrealistic claims of potential returns and operating without the correct license to operate in France.
The French regulators advises that investors should always check that the financial intermediary who proposes or recommends these investments appears on the list of financial institutions authorized to operate in France before committing funds to such companies. The regulators also clarified that non-authorized service providers may be subject to criminal penalties.
