Crypto Exchange Huobi Closes Russian Division


Cryptocurrency exchange Huobi Russia has announced the closure of the service aimed at the Russian segment of the cryptocurrency market. On the official Huobi website, there is no announcement about the closure of Huobi Russia at the time of writing.

December 11, 2020, | AtoZ Markets – Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange Huobi Global has stopped serving its geographically targeted website Huobi Russia (huobi.com.ru), which provided services to citizens of the Russian Federation.

Huobi Russia users have recently been notified with the following message:

“We have made the decision to merge Huobi Russia with Huobi Global and continue to provide the best services and products to Russian users. Thank you for your continued trust and support for Huobi Russia. Please be assured that your assets are safe with Huobi."

Huobi Global ends support for Huobi Russia

The vice president of the exchange did not clarify the exact date of migration and how to switch to Huobi Global. Also, on the official Huobi website (huobi.com), there is no news about the merger of Huobi Global with Huobi Russia at the time of writing. There is also no announcement on the Huobi Russia Twitter page.

Crypto Exchange Huobi Closes Russian Division

Moreover, the crypto exchange has also asked Huobi Russia users to contact the site administration via the Gmail address and withdraw their funds. Whether the address is genuine remains unknown.

“Users who still have assets on Huobi Russia, please contact us by email, provide your UID and registered email address or mobile phone number, and our staff will assist you with the withdrawal of funds.”

AtoZ Markets has reached out to Huobi Global for comments, but have not received a response yet.

Recall that the global provider of financial services in the field of digital assets launched the Russian-language version of its website in the second half of 2018, at the same time it was planning to open an office in Russia.

For the first time, Huobi Global officially announced plans to expand activities in Russia back in August 2020. At the time, Huobi Global Markets Vice President Siyara San said that Huobi Global "will carefully consider the issue of user migration from Huobi Russia to Huobi Global with a simple one-click migration option ...".

And back in September this year, Huobi Global announced the launch of its own mobile app, designed specifically for one of the most neglected regions of the cryptocurrency world: Russia.

So far, nothing is known about the reasons for leaving the territory of the Russian Federation and Runet. It should be noted that there is no domain associated with Huobi in the registry of prohibited sites (Roskomnadzor blacklist).
