The Generalitat de Catalunya, the official governmental institution of the Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia, has stated it plans to develop the Blockchain Tech integration strategy concerning public administration activities.
26 July, AtoZ Markets – The government of Catalonia has revealed that is has a plans to integrate Blockchain in its public administrative activity, as per the official press release dated 24 July.
Catalonian Authorities to Develop Blockchain Tech Integration Strategy
The Generalitat de Catalunya is an official governmental institution of the Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia. It plans to promote the Blockchain technology “with the aim of improving digital services to the public and promoting the potential of this technology between the Administration, companies and the citizen[s].”
As per the published document, Catalonia’s Department of Digital Policies will develop a plan for implementing Blockchain technology in all areas of the public administration’s activities. The deadline for the initiative is set for December 2018.
The strategy of the Department of Digital Policies will be designed by an interdepartmental working group. The strategy looks into promoting the “knowledge, training and the creation of talent in the field of ‘blockchain.” It also plans to examine which technology areas have the maximum potential and economic value.
Spain Blockchain Adoption
Spain has already welcomed the use of this nascent technology across a number of sectors. Earlier this May, Barcelona Tech City has announced the launch of a specialized space for the Blockchain technology development. In addition, one of the Spanish banks, Santander, has used the Blockchain technology for investor voting, thus becoming the first global company to do so.
Earlier this July, Spanish ruling party has proposed a bill to utilize Blockchain in the public administration of the country as well. As many as 133 deputies have supported this initiative.
The new Spanish bill has been introduced to the Spanish Congress on June 22. It has been published on the official website of the legislative branch on June 26. The Spanish ruling party, Partido Popular, has considered giving tax breaks to firms that use Blockchain technology earlier this year.
