The reports state that Brisbane airport is about to collaborate with TravelbyBit to create virtual currency terminal. The official website of the airport states that via this partnership, a number of stores will be able to use TravelbyBit’s payments system to accept cryptocurrencies. The planned cryptocurrencies to be included in the project are Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dash, and Steem.

The General  Manager of Strategic Planning and Development, Roal Hellemons, has stated:

“Many people around the world have made money investing in cryptocurrencies, and a lot of these people travel internationally. So, it makes sense to offer a digital currency experience within our terminals. We’re also proud to be the first airport in the world to achieve this in partnership with a small local start-up business such as TravelbyBit, whose pioneering thinking is drawing attention to Brisbane as a serious breeding ground of innovation.”

Furthermore, Mr. Hellemons also stated that he believes that this is just the first step in widening the reach of cryptocurrencies to other areas of the airport:

“This is just the beginning for us as we hope to expand the digital currency option across the business, so watch this space.”

Australia is Open to Crypto

The CEO of TravelbyBit, Caleb Yeoh, has mentioned that the tourism industry is one of the best sectors to explore the benefits of cryptocurrencies. He has commented:
