Craig Wright files for BTC white paper
According to the media reports the US Copyright Office granted Wright the following registrations:
- U.S. copyright registration dated April 11, 2019, for the paper entitled Bitcoin which, allegedly recognized “the author as Craig Steven Wright, using the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto.”
- U.S. copyright registration dated April 13, 2019, which recognizes the author as Craig Steven Wright, using the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. The registration says, that “Wright wrote most of version 0.1 of the Bitcoin client software, and the registration covers the portions he authored.”
The news appeared on the CoinGeek platform owned by Calvin Ayre who happens to be very good friends with Wright. The publication has used the news as concrete evidence that Wright is Satoshi Nakamoto-a mysterious bitcoin founder.
Bitcoin SV rises after CoinGeek announcement
Many in the crypto community remain skeptical about Wright’s claims of being a real bitcoin founder. However, in light of the aforementioned announcement, it is clear from the Bitcoin SV price action that major part of crypto supporters are taking the announcement as proof of Wright’s involvement in Bitcoin’s creation.
On April BSV was down -3.36% against the US dollar and trailing 0.41% behind BTC, with 24hr trading volume rising by over $29 Million as traders were rushing to exit out of the falling market. The price of Bitcoin SV Wright's crypto project has seemingly soared since the news broke and peaked just shy of $140, up from around $61 prior to the news. It has since rolled back to around $110.
At the moment Bitcoin SV (BSV) price for today is $101.42 with a 24-hour trading volume of $1,188,230,965. Price was up 62% in the last 24 hours. At the time of writing the price of the crypto asset that forked from Bitcoin Cash is up over 72 percent over the last few hours.
Crypto community reacts to Craig Wrights initiative
Calvin Ayre founder of the online gambling company Bodog who has repeatedly proved his loyalty to Craig Wright and Bitcoin SV camp, obviously could not miss an opportunity to greet Wright’s decision.
However, some in the crypto community members kept denying Wright’s claims of being Satoshi Nakamoto. Some of them, including Roger “Bitcoin Jesus” Ver, have already been sued by Bitcoin SV supporter for doubting that he is indeed the author of the Bitcoin whitepaper.
Even now not everyone in the crypto community is convinced that the latest Wright’s moves prove anything at all. Jerry Brito, the executive director at Coin Center, stated in his Twitter:
Peter McCormack, the host of the What Bitcoin Did podcast responded to the news with humor:
Wright has been claiming himself to be Bitcoin creator since 2015 and yet has not cryptographically prove himself to be Satoshi Nakamoto. This has led many in the crypto space, including Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, to call him a fraud. Will the latest Wright decision change such attitude or will it produce more space for legal disputes?
