Despite the French financial regulator AMF ban, our news team received comments that some Binary Options brokers ignore French Binary Options Football advertising ban? Is this really the case? I have taken measures in my own hand and went out to investigate the claims.
23 March, AtoZForex – The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) of France has put an advertising ban on promoting binary options and other high-risk financial products in the beginning of 2017. We have informed our readers earlier this month that in order to comply with the new regulations, a binary options broker EZTrader terminated the sports sponsorship.
According to some reports and messages that our team has received, some of the binary options brokers seem to still promote their business through football advertisements to target the French investors despite this ban.
Do Binary Options brokers ignore French Binary Options Football advertising ban?
According to some online reports and inquiries, many believes that anyoption does not comply with the AMF advertising ban. Anyoption is a brand name of the CySEC regulated Ouroboros Derivatives Trading Limited. The promotion in question is anyoption’s trading competition, offering traders to “Meet with Roberto Carlos”. In addition, anyoption holds a raffle for its traders to win tickets to the Super Clasico football match in Madrid. There was confusion among our readers that such a football ad is still active on the French website of anyoption.
Is anyoption compliant with the French advertising ban?
Following these notifications and reports, I investigated the binary options broker anyoption. During my research, I have talked to a Spokesperson of anyoption. According to anyoption, they have closed French affiliation and media buying in order to follow the new AMF regulations. I inquired further and asked them whether the promotional campaign/ad complies with the AMF’s Financial and Monetary Code. To this, anyoption replied with a big yes. The spokesperson said that this is the last promotional campaign. The broker launched it prior the “Sapin II” law.
They further mentioned that the campaign ends on April 14, 2017. That is before the deadline June 30, 2017, set by the French watchdog to comply with the new regulations. Anyoption Spokesperson also commented:
“We had a special permission from regulators for this campaign. Because we closed with Roberto Carlos before they published the law.”
Moreover, the spokesperson said that they have stopped publishing new content in French. The current campaigns and website of the broker were translated prior the new AMF regulations. Also, they will expire before the 30th of June. The broker warned us that it is even forbidden for external sources or online media to release a French ad about anyoption. So, do Binary Options brokers ignore French Binary Options Football advertising ban? In this case, it is not. Merely a misunderstanding of the facts.
