The Iranian US citizen is the CEO of the travel firm Expedia, and he still has to accept the job offer.

According to anonymous sources of the NY times, Uber’s management had selected three finalists out of which Dara Khosowshahi has been picked. The other two finalists were Jeffrey R. Immelt, the ex chief of GE and Meg Whitman, Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s chief.

He has proven to be a good leader, in the 12 years of tenure as the CEO of Expedia. A travel company based in Washington. During his leadership he has grown Expedia’s revenues from $2.1 billion to $8.7 billion, between 2005 till 2016. Under his lead, Expedia became one of the largest online travel agencies. The firm expanded its business and at this moment owns the subsidiaries Hotels.com, Trivago, Orbitz, HomeAway and Travelocity.

Before taking the leadership role at Expedia, Dara Khosrowshahi worked in the financial markets for the investment bank Allen & Co. He spent seven years working at Allen & Co. Whereafter, the moved to the internet and media conglomerate IAC as their CFO. It was IAC that acquired Expedia back in 2003, and in 2005 it came in the hands of Dara Khosrowshahi.

The new CEO of Uber does not only has a tech background, he is also a strong promoter and believer of new technology developments that will change the world as we know it. In one of his projects, he developed a voice search system. When the Financial Times interviewed him, Dara said the he envisions on one day people can book their travels entirely through voice.

Dara Khosrowshahi is not afraid to speak out about politics. He spoke against Donald Trump, criticizing how Trump’s immigration policies affected the travel industry. Also, after what happened Charlottesville, Dara Khosrowshahi  tweeted: "I keep waiting for the moment when our Prez will rise to the expectations of his office and he fails, repeatedly.”
